Half of the net proceeds from our 2015 product sales were used to purchase and donate eyewear for 2500 artisans across three (3) continents, who need glasses for their detailed work. Between the ages of 30-55 yrs. old, people typically begin to lose their ability to clearly see up close, which can be truly devastating for an artisan. Not only does their production begin to dwindle when they cannot see well, but they risk losing their ability to work entirely. By providing this eyewear they will once again be capable of working to their fullest capacity, enabling them to provide necessary food, shelter and education for their children.

As a mother, the soon-to-be founder of Shopping for a Change, Stacey, connected strongly with the women she visited in Peru. She learned that many were the sole providers for their families, and had been affected by atrocities such as illness, spousal abuse, war, unemployment, and death. Sadly, their situations were not unique, as similar circumstances exist throughout the world. Realizing, but for an accident of birth, it could have been Stacey living under similar conditions, she arrived home no longer the same person as before she left. This led to the birth and mission of Shopping for a Change.
