In 2004 Samantha Morshed and her young family moved from the UK to Bangladesh, where her husband, a British Bangladeshi grew up.  She quickly realized that morally it was necessary to put whatever limited skills she had, to use helping bring sustainable and flexible employment to rural and disadvantaged women of Bangladesh.  Samantha began Hathay Bunano, a non-profit organization that teaches knitting and crochet skills, which are then put to use creating Pebbles toys.

The 6800 + women who craft Pebble products are able to work flexible hours and closer to their rural homes in work centers established by Hathay Bunano.
