Good Paper is an organization helping women who have escaped sex trafficking in the Philippines, and those orphaned during the Rwandan genocide to create better futures for themselves and their families. Aiding artisans in both the Philippines and Rwanda, Good Paper works towards giving women the stable fair trade wages they need to provide for their families and save up for the future. By providing their artisans with a base to sell their art internationally, Good Paper provides the women with the economic autonomy and comfort of being able to focus on living happier lives and fulfilling their dreams, rather than worrying about where their next meal is coming from.
In the Philippines, Good Paper has provided women with histories in prostitution with more than just better jobs and higher salaries; it has raised the standard of living for the cardmakers and their families.
In Rwanda, Good Paper has changed the lives of many women, providing those who have been orphaned in the wake of the Rwandan genocide with the ability to pay their rent, put food on the table, educate their children, and work towards achieving their goals.Good Paper provides their women with a community of female cardmakers who serve as a support system and a group of friends. Every card is hand-signed by the cardmaker, indicative of the care and hard work that went into each card, as well as the influence that each card has on the lives of the artisans.
